Maleficent 2: Mistress of Evil

Magnus Jan 02

I feel like there was too much time between the first Maleficent movie and Maleficent 2: Mistress of Evil.

The sequel should have come earlier, say 2 years after the first film but it did not happen. I had forgotten the events of the first movie while watching the sequel. So I had to pause and go back to the first film to catch up. A friend also mentioned forgetting what happened in the first film, but he remembered the movie had Angelina Jolie in it, at least.

I hope this doesn’t happen to James Cameron’s Avatar sequel. We have been waiting for an Avatar sequel for years… 9 years actually and yet… That’s how I’m also waiting for Warcraft 2.

Maleficent and her goddaughter Aurora begin to question the complex family ties that bind them as they are pulled in different directions by impending nuptials, unexpected allies, and dark new forces at play.

There were some plotholes and the story was honestly not as tight as the first movie but this movie explained some things… like the Origin of maleficent’s powers and her people.

Okay. That’s all for now. Before I spoil it for you.

Why Go See it?

The visual effects are still tight and the scope of the story was expanded this time – More characters and kingdoms. Also, the events and effects of the first film are still fresh in this story. The kingdom has not forgotten. So you should see it if you saw the first movie and still remember everything that happened.

The movie is safe for kids as well. So you don’t have to worry about adult language and scenes. It has fairies, elves, the soldiers trees from the first film and some other cool characters.
